Wooden venetian blinds made to measure in Cork

Wooden venetian blinds suit Cork's Georgian and Victorian rooms best, especially the front living rooms and bedrooms of the terraces in Sunday's Well, Montenotte and St Luke's. Keep them out of bathrooms and kitchens, because the damp Atlantic air and steam make real timber swell over time. In a tall sash window a 50 mm slat looks proportionate and gives a clear view over the city when tilted open; in a bedroom of a smaller semi in Douglas, 35 mm is often enough. Deep period reveals allow fitting inside the recess, so the shutters and mouldings stay visible. Warm oak or white painted basswood both sit well with original woodwork. Made-to-measure, and you choose the slat colour from samples first.
